Cue the Hallelujah chorus and get thee to a nunnery – Rogue
Theatre Company’s production of
The Divine Sister by Charles Busch has just two performances left -- May 18 & 19!
This
“gleefully twisted tale” (NY Times), was a recent, smash, off-Broadway hit and will be
presented at the historic Roseland
Ballroom (behind Hong Kong City Restaurant), 174 Broadway, Taunton, on May 4,
5, 12, 18 and 19, 2012 at 8:00pm.
Directed by Natalie West of Holbrook, with Steve Morin of
Raynham working as Production Manager, and stage managed by Matthew Bruffee of
Middleboro, this “Holy Outrageous Comedy” is a wildly funny homage to nearly
every Hollywood movie involving nuns. Praised as “Mr. Busch’s freshest,
funniest work in years” (NY Times), The
Divine Sister tells the story of St. Veronica’s indomitable Mother Superior,
who is determined to build a new school for her Pittsburgh convent. Along for
the ride, are a young postulant who is experiencing “visions” in the laundry, a
mysterious visitor from Berlin, a wrestling coach at the end of her rope, a
wealthy atheist in need of conversion, and a former suitor intent on luring her
away from her vows.
An accomplished playwright and performer, Mr. Busch
originated the role of Mother Superior in 2010 to great acclaim. Michael McAdam
of Raynham (aka Payton St. James), is simply divine as Mother Superior in
Rogue’s production. This RTC ensemble
also includes Chris Bailey of Plymouth, Brandin Barber of Warren, RI, Victoria
Bond of Middleboro, Jamie Poskitt of Halifax and Billy Purcell of Middleboro.
The Divine Sister
will be presented May 4, 5, 12, 18 and 19, 2012 at
8:00pm at Roseland Ballroom (behind Hong Kong City Restaurant), 174
Broadway, Taunton, Ma. For tickets ($20
general admission, $18 seniors and students), please call 877-592-7130, or buy them online. As with all of our productions, the doors
will open at 7PM for a cash bar and optional Chinese Buffet ($12 per person).

irreverent show contains adult language and situations.
